What is PYDC?

Pittsburg Youth Development Center’s (PYDC) mission is: To provide recreational and educational activities for the community. This is accomplished by offering a variety of athletic and educational programs, including after school care. Founded in 1946, the club provides programs stressing health and life skills, education and career development, character and leadership development, arts and cultural education, outdoor and environmental education and sports, fitness and recreation activities.

“We want to put programs in there that will be a service to the kids in the community,” - President Willie Moffett. Most of the half-dozen of the new club’s champions were regulars at either the old Boys Club, in downtown Pittsburg from 1947 until 1985, or the newer club open from 1992 until 2014.

To that end, the club champions are hosting a meeting Saturday of community organizations interested in providing such classes, activities, sports or other programs that could become part of a revived Boys Club schedule.

PYDC + NSBE

Pittsburg Youth Development Center is the proud fiscal sponsor of the NSBE Jr. Bay Area Chapter. It is also the location for the Pittsburg Branch. Our team leverages the deep rooted history PYDC currently resonates in the Bay Area community to reach a demographic of student unrepresented in the current tech industry.
